my stl has the expectation that we work 11 hrs a day, without lunch breaks beyond grabbing a quick snack & then she will often text later at night and expand us to respond. is this the norm for etls? every etl i’ve know has said the expectation is at least 50 hours a week, definitely more at times. as a tl, before i promoted to my current role, i always had a six day stretch between days off. also because you are never technically “off the clock” i imagine it is expected of you to respond to messages. etls have always told me they’re supposed to put in 50 hours. as far as days off, from what i’ve seen at my store is all etls have 1 regular day off between tues and thurs and rotating weekends off. 50 hours is the expectation. 50 hours is accurate.
my fellow etls and i always take at least 30 min for lunch and sometimes have coffee in the am. at my last store it was very similar to your situation. at my current store my stl is the one calling us for breaks and lunches every day. yeah, the couple times i’ve sat at my desk to eat quickly and another etl has walked by i feel judged. i had a status with my stl yesterday & she told me how our etl ap had told her about a conversation between me & him where i said some terrible things & it never happened. it’s hard because the rest of the etls have been working together for over a year & i often feel like the odd one out. my etls eat. that sounds nice, one time i was 10 mins late & my etl hr told my stl. so now if i hit traffic i make sure to tell every one, but i’ve never had a salaried job that is like that. no one says anything as long as one key holder stays in the store.
