washington project for the arts (wpa) in partnership with dc arts studios is pleased to present professional practices: art handling 101. this free workshop is geared towards artists and exhibition organizers and will provide the opportunity to learn how to professionally handle artworks in a gallery environment, install artworks for an exhibition, and how to safely prepare works for shipping and storage. larissa received her bfa from the university of dayton and her mfa from george washington university in 2007. she has been an art handler at the hirshhorn museum since 2005 and has been a full time exhibit specialist since 2011.larissa has been involved in the installation of many of the hirshhorn’s major exhibitions, including: ai weiwei: according to what?, damage control: art and destruction since 1950, days of endless time, and at the hub of things: new views of the collection. rachel schmidt was born and raised in topeka, kansas and received her bfa from the university of kansas.
